“meet me under the electric sky..”
Laps of time:
I think I landed in L.a. like a full 24 hours ago from my trip to New York. Feeling the warm Californian sun on my skin feels nice, waking up in my own bed feels even nicer… I missed home. This month for me has been filled with travels to the east coast. My days and times were getting mixed up from flight to flight.
Recapping the last 72 hours before EDC:
10.31.2016 - 11.1.2016
It was freezing cold in NYC, hailing a couple of hours before my girls and I had to slip on our amazingggggg halloween costumes (please check my instagram if you haven’t seen it because seriously, it was fire.) and attend an Afrojack event at Marquee NY. We danced the night away and then made a quick 4 am stop at the local Artichoke Pizza joint (also FIREEEEE). We spent the next morning hibernating and packing. As Im trying to stuff my clothes and make up into this huge suitcase, my phone starts buzzing. I honestly at first didn’t really know how to react. Maybe a bit shocked and a little flattered. “Insomniac has invited you to go to EDC Orlando!” I looked at my friends as I’m reading this email… my worries of if I will be able to fit my thigh high boots into my suitcase faded as my excitement spikes! After getting off a few phone calls, confirming flights, changing recording schedules, and a mini meltdown of what to wear, I finally settled down and said, “Im going to EDC….in less than 48 hours.”
11.2.2016 - 11.3.2016
We said goodbye to our little airBnB, goodbye to New York, goodbye to each other and I was off to L.A. I think I landed 3 hours later than expected. As some of you may know if you follow me of snapchat or Insta Stories, every time I go to the east coast, something always happens with my flight. Delayed, canceled because of a hurricane, moved, late….supppperr late. I don’t know what it is, its like the east coast wants me to stay I guess. I got home around 10 pm, dead tired. I took a quick shower and melted into my bed. The morning couldn’t come quicker and the more I ‘snoozed’ the more behind I knew I was on getting everything done that day. Our flight to Orlando left that night at 1 am so we needed to be at the airport around 10:45 pm. I looked at the clock, 10 am… “cool I still have 12 hours.” The entire day was a complete blur to me. I went to one meeting, went to 2 PR houses to look at their Brands showrooms, on top of that, I also had to unpack and repack for EDC and an extra 2 days in Orlando. After grabbing a quick smoothie from Kreation, I still didn’t know what in the world I was going to wear to EDC. Driving down Melrose as I head back towards home from the last PR House, to my left was NASTYGAL. I busted a quick U-turn and ran in. Needless to say, they had everything. Special thanks to Natalie at the Nastygal Melrose Location for styling me! After picking up my tops and booties, I ran to ZARA to pick up some skirt options which was close to my friends house who I stopped to say 'hi' to…. and then headed towards the nearest Michael’s crafts store to pick up glitter. In the mists of this all happening, I managed to lose my wallet. GUYS. I FREAKED. One, because my wallet, aka, the LV passport holder which, of course has my passport in it. Two, because I’m flying in 5 hours, I literally was in such a panic. Having only 4 hours until I have to meet my Producer at the studio to leave for the airport, I had no choice but to back track my steps. With some miracle, a security guard at a friends house that I made a visit at found my wallet. So I drove back, picked up my wallet, drove to Michael’s got my glitter and went home to pack.
Angelique and I had the fastest driving Uber driver in the planet with the most lit playlist, on our way to LAX which helped with the crazy day I’ve been having. Taking a second to tune out everything, I stared out the window into the L.A. night and wondered what adventures await in Orlando.
Red Tired Eyes from my Red Eye | EDC Awaits
11.4.2016
At 8 am sharp, we landed in Orlando. As the sun beamed into my window, I woke up, happy that I got some sleep on the flight. Touching base with the team from Insomniac and setting up our arrival time to the event, Angelique and I had some free time before our camera and videographer got to the hotel. So while Angelique opted to sleep, I dragged my butt to the salon. The past few weeks of flight, running from airport to airport, I just wanted to soak my feet into warm water and have get a pedi before the crazy nights ahead. It was noon by the time I was done, t-minus 3 hours before we have to leave for EDC. I rushed back, took a shower and started on my makeup. As I was putting on the final glittery touches, the excitement hit me. Having gone to EDC Orlando before, I knew what to expect from a person who’s attending a festival stand point, but having the experience of being Hosted as an Artist at EDC is something else.
We were greeted by Stuart, the Manager for Insomniacs VIP Influencer Outreach. He walked us to the Private Cabana which looked over the main stage and then suggested we walk around the festival to get a look at everything. Walking onto the main field and looking everyones costumes, their unity, their smiles, made my heart bloom. We walked from kineticField (main stage) to circuitGrounds, passing rides and cool statues they built just for this EDC. Every year its something different. Some different cool artwork or artistic structure they build. Its incredible the amount of work goes into just one show.
Electric Sky
Under all the lights, fireworks, lasers it felt like the crowd became one beating heart. They cheered and danced and lived with every beat coming out of those speakers. I believe one of the most memorable moments of those two days was going out on KineticField Stage. In front of me was a sea of people, more than 100,000… the energy was unbelievable. We captured these little happy moments for you guys in the series below. Please stay tuned for the After movie which will be posted very soon!
