L.A. Living

Moving to L.A. two years ago from the other side of the country was one of the biggest decisions I had to make in my twenty one years of life. There have been some crazy, exciting, scary, weird, spontaneous, and hilarious memories that I'll never forget.

Amorino Beverly Hills

My goodness its sunny here. Even for a Florida Girl. But in California, its a different kind of sun. It’s one that you see in movies and image watching when it sets. What better excuse do you need to go grab some ice-cream and lounge around by the pool with friends. California has become a home away from home for me. It’s still crazy to me sometimes to think that I moved here. That I’m actually here…in L.A., the City of Angels. Having my own apartment was the first shock. I mean, Im usually very okay with my own space and quiet time, but living on your own is a whole different story. Example one, you have to cook on your own. Like, what the actual heck. I miss my mom’s cooking. Crying, major tears right now. Example two, you can’t technically run any and hide until the spider goes away. So you have to man up, suit up, and prepare for battle with the eight legged creature from the dark side - no bueno. My unnormal fear of spiders has cause me to bother my neighbors twice to have her come and take it out of my house. And example three, you have to come to the realization that you’re now a grown up and have to do grown up things. Don’t get me wrong, the first few weeks I was completely ‘home cooked meal deprived’ until I started cooking which made my apartment feel a little more cozy. And then there are some amazing restaurants that I’ve discovered which have become my favorites over the years. I haven’t gotten over my fear of spiders though, I don’t think that will change anytime soon. And about grown up, its not so scary anymore. I think of it as growth rather than leaving something behind which keeps me pushing everyday!

For those of you who have only seem L.A. through movies and pictures, let me tell you. There are really that many palm trees here. Looking out at the cotton candy sky and the swaying palm trees, it makes me want to bundle up in a big knitted sweater and dream a little bigger. Anything is possible! At least thats the motto here.

Being away from home, from family and friends have really taught me a great deal in a very short time. Schedule and time is everything. Especially if you drive and want to make it to where you need to be on time. Funny story: The first two weeks being out here, I had a major photo shoot with Skullcandy. Needless to say we were two hours late to the shoot, my manager and A&R at the time were freaking out on their phones screaming at people who told the driver to pick me up thirty minutes before the shoot when the destination was in the middle of nowhere and took us an hour and a half plus L.A. traffic. By the time we got there, all I could do was laugh at the situation and make the best out of it. Now I’m always pretty much on time to avoid any awkward “you’re not from here are you” conversations.

With that said, there are so many more adventures awaiting for me in L.A. and I can’t wait to be able to share them with you guys. It has been a crazy ride this past year, but I promise there is so much more on the way. Stay updated, the reveal is coming soon babes. x
