Luxury in the Sky

Air New Zealand

Luxury in the Air

Its 2 am and Im tossing and turning in my sleep… I literally am so anxious about tomorrow. - iPhone Note Thoughts

My alarm goes off at 4:45 am, we are to wake up and get ready for our adventure to the airport. Today, we are getting on a plane and going to London for Fashion week. Holy crap, Im going to Fashion week…. (nfdenmfsknfk!!!!!!!!) After we are done stuffing our uber with our 4 luggages and 2 carry ons, my bestfriend and I are off to LAX. Its kind of a surreal driving.. everything felt different. I don’t know what it was but maybe just the thrill of a new adventure that had us both in a daydream mood.

Pulling up to the International Terminal, I looked over at sleepy Lay (she’s not a morning person) and realized that she was, in our weird way of reading each others minds without talk, asking if I was starving like she was…which then made my tummy answer in response for my mouth with a growl. We had our first situation…Jay&Lay were hungry…which means soon we will be HANGRY (hungry and angry) if we don’t feed the beasts soon.

Walking into the airport for check in, we were greeted by the Air New Zealand team, they helped us load our bags and directed us to the Lounge. Upon arrival, the Manager on duty was kind enough to give us the grand tour of the lounge. It was posh and decorated with a modern twist. The functionality of Air New Zealand’s Lounge was amazing and I appreciated the friendly staff as well as the extensive food selection they had. After our tour was done, Lay and I walked over to, what seemed to two hungry girls, an assortment of everything we wanted to eat and filled our plates. The food was delicious. They offered a variety of different dishes from sandwiches to soups, American to Asian. We sat there for a little while trying to figure out our game plan for our travels, checking our lists making sure we didn’t forget anything and lastly, of course we had to post something on instagram.

Two hours later, it was time to board. We walked out with about a hand full of people and followed them down to the terminal for boarding. Walking straight onto the plane, we were greeted by the flight attendances with champaign. It was my first time flying Business Premier with Air New Zealand, which is the highest luxury class purchasable for their airline. I was so excited to be able to experience the world class service they offer. James was going to be taking care of us during the flight. He came around and explained turn over service - our extremely comfy seats turned into even more comfy beds, and all we had to do was ask for them to come and turn it over.

As we took off, I looked over the beautiful city of Los Angeles and then we were in the clouds. I think I fell asleep for about an hour when the smell of warm bread woke me up (lol, yes guy… ate bread before Fashion Week). James brought out our lunch which was a 4 course meal, and absolutely delicious. I had a little giggle with Layla because it seemed like every time we would both wake us is when they were about to serve food. We spent the next 15 hours, watching movies, getting pampered, eating… and enjoying the luxury of Air New Zealand. I don’t think I’ve ever been so disappointed to land at my destination.. the thought of leaving the plane made me a little sad and Lay and I both agreed that we could have just stayed on the plane lol.

Our time on the incredibly luxurious Air New Zealand was over but their service didn’t just stop when we got off. All Business class passengers are given a pass to walk straight through to the immigration check line which if some of you travel a lot, you’ll know that you could be standing in line waiting to have an officer just stamp your passport, for like 3 hours. This convenience perk really set Air New Zealand apart for me because it shows that they value their customers time and  after we are done flying with them, they are still there to aid and make our trip that much better even off the plane.

Over all, I would stay that from the staff, to the service, to the over the top luxury on board and off, Air New Zealand is at the top of my list for incredible Business and First class airlines.

Thank you to Air New Zealand for having me. It was truly the best way to fly to attend my first London Fashion Week!
